First Aid & CPR with AED Certification Courses


Emergency First Aid with CPR & AED (WSIB approved)

In this one-day course, students will learn to recognize and provide interventions for life-threatening emergencies until medical aid arrives. The Emergency First Aid course is geared towards educating citizens about the prevention of emergencies and how to react to an emergency should one arise.

Participants will gain knowledge in the following areas:

  • Legalities
  • Disease Management & Biohazards
  • The Emergency Medical Services System
  • Scene Management
  • Head, Spine and Pelvic Injuries
  • Bleeding Management and Shock
  • Cardiovascular Emergencies
  • Sudden Medical Conditions
  • Airway and Breathing Emergencies
  • CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
  • AED Overview
Certifications

This course is approved federally by Human Resources Skills & Development Canada (HRSDC) and provincially by each applicable WSIB/WCB. The certification is valid for three (3) years from the date of course.

Standard First Aid with CPR and AED (WSIB approved)

In this two-day course, students will learn to recognize and provide interventions for life-threatening emergencies until medical aid arrives. This course gives participants a hands-on approach to learning new lifesaving skills. The Standard First Aid course is geared towards educating citizens about the prevention of emergencies and how to react to an emergency should one arise.

Participants will gain knowledge in the following areas:

  • Legalities
  • Disease Management & Biohazards
  • The Emergency Medical Services System
  • Scene Management
  • Head, Spine and Pelvic Injuries
  • Bleeding Management and Shock
  • Cardiovascular Emergencies
  • Sudden Medical Conditions
  • Airway and Breathing Emergencies
  • CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
  • AED training
  • Secondary Survey
  • Musculoskeletal Injuries
  • Burns
  • Poisons, Substance Abuse and Misuse
  • Environmental injuries and illnesses
Certifications

First Aid & CPR with AED Educational Courses
(without certification)

Non-certification first aid courses cover the same material as certification courses. They are provided by the Emergency Care & Safety Institute as educational courses only, for persons interested in learning first aid, who do not require certification for school or work.

CPR with AED Certification and Non-Certification Courses

Stand alone CPR-A or C, with AED, are offered by the Emergency Care and Safety Institute (ECSI) as 2 - 3 hours in-classroom or 1.5 hours online training.

Online courses require in-classroom skills testing to receive your certification (once the online portion of the course is completed, you will receive a confirmation code which you may use to schedule your skills test).

Non-certification CPR courses cover the same material as certification courses. They are provided as educational courses only, for persons interested in learning how to perform CPR, but do not require certification for school or work.
